Turbo oven reviews takes a look at several of the current halogen convection table top ovens available today. From the high tech digital Secura turbo oven to the basic easy to use Aroma turbo oven.

These ovens are all similar in that they use heat supplied by a blazing hot halogen bulb and convection accomplished with the use of one or more fans to circulate that heat around whatever it is that you are cooking. If you’ve ever stood close to one of those halogen work lights or changed a hot halogen bulb in a lighting fixture you know that they get extremely hot extremely fast. One oven, the Sunpentown turbo oven claims that their Nano – Carbon FIR heating element goes from 0 degrees to 1832 degrees in one second. Very Impressive.Convection, simply put is moving super heated air around the oven so that you get an even temperature around what ever it is you are cooking. No hot or cold spots. This results in a more evenly cooked item than you would get from your standard oven. With a good turbo oven you can cook your meals in less time, use less energy, not heat up the whole kitchen while cooking and in the end save money. The differences in these ovens comes down to the price, build quality and optional features available.Secura turbo ovenThe Secura turbo oven allows you to hinge the top up and away to get access to the goodies inside. It is the only one with this feature, for now. This gives you convenient hands free serving. It comes with manual or digital controls that give fingertip adjustability of the timer, temperature and air flow. The power cord is detachable so that it’s out of the way while serving and cleaning. It is the only turbo oven that comes with a true off switch. This is a nice feature that saves energy by eliminating the always on, power sucking state of so many house hold appliances. The build quality, design and materials are excellent in this oven.Flavorwave turbo ovenThe Flavorwave Halogen oven is a made for TV product promoted by the lovable A Teamer Mr. T. Why Mr. T is promoting kitchen appliances is beyond the scope of this article. Let it be said however that if the Flavorwave can exist in Mr. T’s kitchen with getting smashed to bits then it must be one tough cookie. In the real world the Flavorwave is actually a well built turbo oven. Solid construction with manual controls and a heavy glass container. Nothing fancy it just works like it is supposed to. If you choose to go the TV infomercial route to buy yours be careful when ordering to get exactly what you want. This one is available at Amazon and in several retail stores as well.Sunpentown turbo ovenThe Sunpentown turbo oven comes in a couple of different flavors. You can have yours with digital or manual controls. This turbo oven has an element that goes from 0 degrees all the way to over 1800 degrees in a second. That’s serious turbo oven power with 1200 watts of heating. It has a heavy duty 12 quart tempered glass cooking vessel and several accessories available to allow you to cook pizza, roasts and even pies.Aroma turbo ovenThe Aroma turbo oven is the basic work horse model. There’s not alot of cutting edge design or fancy electronics with this oven. It’s well built of quality components and it does what it’s supposed to do. That is cook meals and snacks for one or two people. It’s a great appliance for the dorm room, cabin or small apartment.Nuwave ovensNuwave ovens offering is another made for TV product and the sales for this oven are brisk. The online reviews of this oven are mostly positive. There are some major differences with the Nuwave from the other models. The major one being that the cooking vessel on the Nuwave ovens turbo oven is made of polycarbonate (plastic). There have been reports of this component yellowing and cracking with use. About $25 to replace and then have the same thing happen all over again. The Nuwave comes with every option you could ever want for your oven. The extender ring allows you to cook up to an 18 lb Turkey if you desire. While there are some turbo ovens that may have questionable build quality and components there are some that would be a great addition to your kitchen. You really are only trying to accomplish two things with a turbo oven. Heat up the air inside the oven and move it around. These ovens will do what they are designed to do as long as they are used accordingly. Cook small to medium sized meals and snacks for one or two people. If you cram a twenty pound turkey into your turbo oven for thanksgiving dinner you may wind up with hungry, cranky guests and egg on your face.
